The national conference on Ride Share Alternatives is meeting in Houston TX, for a weelk filled with activities and events designed to educate and rally attendees around important issues that will likely transform the industry over the next 2 - 5 years.  Ride Share companies accross America and around the world are in jeopardy of loosing significant if not total market share to driverless cars and trucks. The new technology is already here with many companies are rolling out driverless cars in strategic test markets accross America and around the world.  Assuming heallth and safety concerns are alleviated, economically, driverless cars for ride sharing purposes, could completely cannabolize people driven ride share services like Uber or Lyft over the next 2 - 3 years.  That is about 3 million jobs in America , which is about $30B - $50B  in loss income for American workers in a very short time frame.  What roles does the private sector, our government or advocacy organizations like ours, play in helping these three million Americans transition into other areas of business or work before this massive loss of employment resulting from new technology.   New technology is good, but technology should be made for the people, not at the expense of people.   Earlier this month, stock prices of major business softward as a service companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, Intuit, etc....were taking a beating because of fears that AI could replace their functionality.  Then AI companies created AI managment systems (like Fronteir) that helps AI manage information and software system from different companies and frameworks, that would allow companies to hanress the best of AI and still utilized the the software as a service products and services that have been a source of business productivity for the last 50 years.   Why is it OK and good business for businesses with game changing technology, to make their technology in a way that does not wipe out, other big business industries and sectors, as a very part of their strategy and design for product roll out, but scoff at having to designing their systems to protect employment and business opportunities for workers, consumers and small business.  This is why regulation is requiered for technology that can have a massive impact on employment and business opportunities for small business, who do not have the leverage or opportunity  to work with companies creating massively disruptive technology to design it in ways to accomodate employees, consumers and small businesses in the way that they automatically customize their technology to protect their friends in big sectors and industries by designing technology to work with those industries business models rather than just wiping them out........These are the issues and opportunities we want discuss, debate and strategize on in this weeks conference
